TD Autowerkes was established early 2006, by Damian Borroto and Tony Baumgartner. It consisted of a small warehouse which could barely fit the Toyota MR-2 and the white civic hatchback. We could not even open the doors in the car. There was no computer, no phone, no nothing.
Early Oct 2006, we were approached by Frank Smith, former owner of South Florida Performance, who had recently opened a small shop named Smith Speed. He wanted out and offered to sell his location. A spacious, air conditioned 2,900 SQ/FT warehouse with a lift, desks, computers and everything else needed to run a fully functioning performance shop. We quickly agreed to buy him out and brought in a 2nd lift, a welder, more tools etc.
Just before Christmas 2006, Tony and I had some differences and he decided to leave, and go off and work on his own. That’s when the shop really took off. Sales were booming, and the shop was at full capacity. We were the #2 Precision Turbo dealer in 2007 and #1 in 2008. And we have become a top seller for major manufacturers such as Ferrea, Competition clutch and Tial. In appreciation to what we do and the amount of product we move, these companies show their support by sponsoring our very own 8 second 2000 Honda Civic hatchback.
We constantly test, and give feedback on every product we sell, and will NOT sell something we don’t personally believe in. No job leaves the shop unless it passes Quality Control A.K.A. Damian Borroto.
